Style mavens do not always put together high fashion ensembles. Most of the time they don a fashion uniform.
There may only few people that can pull off a head to toe creative ensemble every single time they head out of their abode. Not only is this logistically difficult to put off, but it can be very expensive as well.
I deduce that practicality falls into play so that 20% of the time the most chic can showcase their show or street-stopping look, but the other 80% they would have to rely on a fashion uniform that can still project their unique sense of style.
Michael Kors said it best when he explains the fashion uniform,
"I don’t care what you do for a living; I don’t care how old you are. What everyone is lacking in the world is time. So if you can find a uniform that makes you feel confident and comfortable in your own skin and you’re able to get dressed in less time, that’s a game changer."
I have many good fashion moments, i.e. when designers dresses me for an event in my heyday as a fashion model, a beauty queen, or when I host a television event.
But I also have fashion faux pas.
In time I learn that what I am most comfortable in is essentially my 'go-to' outfit.
And this is my ever reliable, effortless, and, in my opinion, stylish and chic that 'I do not have to think twice knowing I look good' type of fashion uniform.
This simply comprises of a dress or a nice pair of jeans and a comfortable tee, strappy sandals, and a jacket or a blazer (if it's chilly).
Sometimes I will throw in a scarf or a fedora hat. And if I must elevate this look then I will exchange a straw bag or a satchel with my holy grail Chanel jumbo classic flap.
How about you? What is your fashion uniform?
I have curated a few tried and true workhorse basics that comprise my Fashion Uniform:
